Remove VPN and get down to the basic will be an good place start.

Looking table is one thing but at this point try setup only WAN and no VPN .

Disabled VPN and nothing is better. In fact this morning things are worse.

Well, I had to give up. Nothing worked to solve the poor web performance.

The ZyXEL came via UPS and within 10 minutes had the internet up and running smoothly without any issues at all - just unplugged the Netgear and plugged in the ZyXEL.

So, unfortunately Netgear has lost my business in firewalls. I've also tried two Netgear wireless APs and they failed miserably as well (currently using Trendnet).

Netgear - you really need to get you act together as your shoddy products have scared me away.

Thanks for the help!

Sounds quiet strange.

Did you originally bought as NEW? Replacement was RMA or vendor replacement ?

Brand new.

I will say that the one Netgear product line that I have had luck with is your switches. Just bought a brand new 16 port JGS516 and it's working wonderfully right out of the box (as it should).

As a small business owner I can't afford to have gear that does not work as it's supposed to - i.e., returns and RMA's are fine, but time is $$ and it's less expensive for me to trash a piece of gear and get a replacement - sometimes it's the competition that get's the nod as in this case.

I tried two Netgear wireless routers in AP mode - both were totally unreliable and kept dropping connections even though the signal strength was just fine. Fed up with the two Netgears I tried a Trendnet device and it just worked and is still going strong. I may replace it with another Trendnet that has higher capacity, thus they've earned my continued business.

Having similar problems and like you can not afford the down time or wasted effort explaining why it is equipment I recommended.

Any kind of heavy through put crashes the device regardless of firmware installed.

Which Zyxel and trendnet device did you finally settle on?
