Default Refurb WNDR3400 - How to determine if v1 or...

I picked up a WNDR3400 (my 3rd Netgear router in the last 10 years) from 1saleaday.com . The s/n was blacked out when I got it and I'd like to update the firmware. I didn't see any version number so I'm assumming it's a WNDR3400v1...?

Will using it as an AP with no WAN connection be a problem? It seems to work ok in that config unless there's heavy throughput like video streaming through a wired connection. Then, wireless connections cannot be made and those already made drop.

What firmware is it running now? The go check the web site and compare to see if that is V1 or V2 firmware.

these are refurbish the third party, you will NOT have regular warranty. I suggest to return and buy new model of this router or similar to have better support.

It was cheap enough. I didn't expect warranty service. It's just to play around with anyway. I'm stuck with the 2Wire HGV from ATT Uverse as my main router.

If you can not put in bridge mode with 2wire you have suggest you use access point device instead of a router.

Not sure what you want to achieve but using behind route will double NAT and will cause some issues as well.
