Hello.
So it seems for window 7 users we are getting a lot of installation problems. Apparently Microsoft can't locate our adapater. The steps below should help but lets start from the beginning. step 1: remove or uninstall software if already installed <if not go to step 4> step 2: shut down computer step 3: remove adapater if already inserted in PCI slot step 4: power on computer step 5: install cd and reinstall software step 6: during final stage of installation a small smartwizard pop up is shown. Make sure it disappears before you shut down your computer. step 7: install adapter to an available slot step 8: power computer on ** this is where thing so crazy for me and everyone else, but the steps below should fix the issue** step 9: click start step 10: right click computer step 11: click manage step 12: click device manager step 13: highlight network adapter(s) step 14: observe the fake named adapters (broadcom and microsoft) step 15: right click broadcom step 16: click properties step 17: click driver tab up above step 18: click update drivers step 19: click browse computer for software manually step 20: click let me pick from..... down below step 21: at this time you should see the actual name of the adapter listed below. step 22: double click the correct adapater name and this should trigger the smartwizard to begin. step 23: have fun and make sure you file a complaint to netgear for this. |
