I'm having trouble with a WNR1000v2-VC. I've had trouble with this thing in the past where it is working great and then one day the browsing speed cripples and It would be like this for a few days or even a week and then it would just start working blazing fast again like nothing ever happened.
Now, its been over two weeks and its just not getting better. I connect to it and have a good solid connection, try to access a web page and it may or may not start loading, very slow when it does. After minutes of this it disconnects and sometimes i have to completely remove the network adapter to even get back connected again, but still with the same results. Also, when trying to access the web interface, its even slower than web pages. I enter the routers up and quickly am promptly for the username and password, but after clicking login it takes minutes to load if it ever does. Usually it only loads elements at a time per page, like the Netgear banner at the top, the banner and links on the left, and usually doesn't load the middle contents at all. Sometimes it loads the page completely if i let it sit a few, or it loads but doesn't have anything entered in any fields such as SSID, channel, etc. All blank. Other times it will load the correct settings after a long wait. Switching pages causes it to display the descriptions from the right side of the previous page where it should be showing the descriptions on the current page. I have managed to change setting in it such as channel, MTU, security.. And nothing i have tried makes the internet or web interface any better. I even bought a new network adapter thinking that was it. The new one has a much better and stronger signal but has the same and worse results. Sometimes upon changing a setting, the router will disconnect me and reboot itself, and offer even change its name to Network-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, with the x being numbers and letters. I don't know what's wrong with this thing. I've tried changing settings in it, my PC, my adapters, different pcs, nothing fixes it. My two network adapters are Netgear WNA1100 (my older one), and a Belkin N300 (new one), both wireless N and USB. Thanks for your replies |

Does anyone have any ideas? Also when trying to play something on Youtube, the page will load completely but the video will not start loading at all. This is becoming very frustrating

Try going to your router interface page and upgrading to the latest firmware. When I was using this router I had many of the similar problems you had until I upgraded to the latest firmware.

Thank you for your reply. I will try this, if it will even go that far. Believe it has the latest firmware, but I may be wrong.

I managed to get the new firmware loaded onto it, but it makes no difference other that IPv6 is now available.
Anything else I can do? |

The only other thing I can think of is to do a hard factory reset, and if that dosen't work you might want to get a new router.

To use the restore settings button:
1. Locate the restore factory settings button on the rear panel of the router. 2. Use a sharp object such as a pen or a paper clip to press and hold the restore factory settings button for about 5 seconds, until the Power light begins to blink. 3. Release the restore factory settings button, and wait for the router to restart, and for the Power light to stop blinking and become solid green. The factory default settings will be restored so that you can access the router from your Web browser using the factory defaults. Warning: These procedures erase all current configuration settings. Wireless-N 150 Router WNR1000v2 User Manual Troubleshooting 7-13 v1.0, November 2009 If the wireless router fails to restart, or the Power light continues to blink or turns solid amber, the unit might be defective. If the error persists, you might have a hardware problem and should contact Technical Support http://support.netgear.com/product/WNR1000-2VCNAS The above is a link to your setup and user manual |
