Default DGND3300 Configuration options for iPad

I have a Westell 7500 modem/router.
We recently got an iPad 2. I would like to use the iPad in our basement and on our patio. But the signal strength in those areas isn't quite good enough. I was looking at the DGND3300 as a possible replacement for the Westell. Does that seem like a good idea? In addition to the iPad we have two desktops wirelessly connected that are in the same room as the Westell. I also have a laptop that I use in a room that is two walls away from the router. We also have Apple TV and a Sling device connected to our Dish Hopper DVR. The Hopper is connected via a Netgear Powerline. Our home is about 1,400 square feet. I use inSSIDer to check my Wi-Fi signal strength. I use Speedtest to check the throughput. I have a 10Mb DSL service from CenturyTel.

If the DGND3300 is a good choice what are the configuration options I should consider for the best performance in this environment? I live in a subdivision and there are about 10 other wireless networks that I can detect.

Thanks for any help or advice.
