Default Log file parsers?

Anybody know of software which can parse a logfile?

And give you information like which sites have conducted attacks, which sites have accessed the local LAN, which external addresses are the most popular etc etc

"Sites" dont tend to launch attacks against random IP's. Hijacking type of sites are not going to be blocked by the 3700, that's where you will need a firewall/AV package.

He's actually trying to help you out by explaining that what you're asking for isn't necessarily what you're alluding to in your original post.

Not sure what the deal is here, but this is 2 rude posts you've left now attacking JL.

I say it's about ban from the site unless attitude change.

Lets take this first:

I felt HE was attacking me with the condescending reply in this message! (regardless of how you feel about his message) and so took a dislike to him at once.

As you wrote un the other thread "please refrain from giving your 2 cents if it's not helpful." that is how i felt about his post - he was not helping but posting some rubbish and attacking me because I apparently had used the word "site" incorrectly (in his opinion)

I had put him on ignore so i thought it might be over (and I see it is, just in a different way)

I don't think its helping when people suggest irrelevant things.
I ask about the parsing of the logfile, not about antivirus scanners etc.

And when my log is full of notes about blocked attacks from different IP addresses, I'm going to call that "sites" which apparently is wrong!

Also, kindly explain to me how an antivirus program would be able to show which sites the computers's on the network have connected to through the router?! And which external sites have accessed computers inside the network?

Or rather perhaps you could have explained that to me, if I could have stayed, but when people start attacking me and then blaming me for begin attack its time to leave for ever

Especially since I see the guy who can't write english is saying i must be banned (Him you apparently understand!) even though i only asked for help.

I'm leaving now, perhaps there is a non american forum where everybody is welcome.

No one puts such a rude post from first reply.

If you reply wasn't not quite what you were looking for then you should ask in very professional manner.

You already made two of us thinking you have an issues and we have lot history of seeing these type of replies.

If you need a HELP, be a humble asking user and/or change your attitude.

This is not place who is smarter than others. If you can not stay in forum in neutral position then find other avenue.

There is lots of skill/Knowledgeable user are here to share

There is no Netgear based software log parsers out there.
If there were any software based log parsers that deal with netgear logs then they would not be able to show you any sites that are conducting attacks because the 3700 does not block sites that conduct attacks.

Sites also do not access the lan, the lan may be entered by a specific IP and that is likely the largest extent of what a log parser could show you, but these are set by forwarding rules in the router either manually or by UPNP.

The 3700 does not record what external addresses you visit and as such there is no way for the log file to detail what is the most popular for you to view.

etc, etc...

I hope this post was in more detail than the previous one and that you find from it that the 3700 log files do not do what you are looking for and a dedicated firewall/AV package may provide more of what you want.

Regards
J
