Default Missing Serial Number

Hi,

I have just bought a FR114P Firewall/Print Server and to register it for the NETGEAR Enterprise forums , I have to quote the serial number. Well here is the problem: as the my FR114P is refurbished and it is classified as EOL, there is no serial number on the bottom. I need to find the relevent serial number, but there seems to be no article in the support section to combat this problem.

It would be great if someone could suggest a solution to the problem.

You need a serial number to access the Enterprise section, sorry.

So does this mean that even though I have paid for it and it is classed as a 'business' product, I can't register it for full support? Unbelievable!

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help.

Hi,

I get quite same problem : I need to ask questions in forum about the FS116 I bought as "second hand product" to the initial buyer. I have the serial number on it but I cannot register in netgear site.
I regularly buy it to the French university that previously used it.
How do I proceed ?

The question I had to ask is for the use of an "Y" adaptator that permits to get 2 links of 4 wires from a single four twisted pair cable (RJ45).
Can I use it with 2 ports of my FS116 on one side and with 2 different computers on the other side ? I want to be sure not to produce short-circuit that could damage the FS116.

Thanks for reply on the 2 questions (registration change + Y-adaptator use)

Question Re: Missing Serial Number

I too have this problem, I have just purchased a brand new WTG624v3 and there IS NO SERIAL NUMBER on the reverse sticker, there is no glue residue or no previous marking residue, there has never been anything put in the serial number box, how ever i have a MAC address sticker.
My question is this?
Where do I get my serial number from to A, Register for my support I am entitled to from this product under the purchase agreement.
and
B, I need this said serial number to register my serial on this site.
Any assistance in this matter would be appreciated as i have just purchased this product to replace an old Netgear MR314v2 model, I would hate this to swing me away from Netgear products in the future.

Many Thanks.

Ok, the forum is not the same as tech support.

If you have any product without a serial number then it is a refurbished product and Netgear is not going to fully support the device. You can get some email support but you will not get replacements unless you go back to the place you purchased the device from.

http://my.netgear.com/myNETGEAR/support.asp

To post about your Enterprise product, you need to register the device, so you can access the Enterprise section. So if you don't have a serial number, you can not post in the proper section and any post posted in the wrong section will be moved. Basically, the Enterprise section is for people with a registered Enterprise product.

If you have a home class product without a serial number, you can still post in the forum about your device. Home class products are not bound by registration on the forum.

Any more questions, please IM me.
