My ME 102 Access Point continually needs rebooting for it to work. After a re-boot by unplugging the power & replugging, it functions without any problem for 5-10 minutes. How do I solve this problem?
I've just installed my ME 102 to serve as an access point on the 2nd floor to my WGT624v3 on the first floor. The set up is: Connections: DSL modem -> WGT624v3 -> Netgear DS 108 hub -> Netgear ME 102 Access Point -> Netgear MA 401 802.11b Wireless PC Card running on a Compaq laptop with XP Home Edition SSID config: SSID for the WGT624v3 is "PEACH" SSID for the ME 102 is "ME102_AP" ---------------- When I'm on the 2nd floor on my laptop, PEACH is always visible via XP's network connections menus albeit with low signal strength. When ME102_AP has just been rebooted, I also see it via XP's network menus and it's at full strength (woohooo!!). I choose ME102_AP and everything works **flawlessly** for about 5-10 minutes. Then ME102_AP disappears and all signal is lost. It disappears from the XP network menus until I reboot! I've also connected the ME102 directly to the WGT624v3 with a long CAT5 cable to see if that might solve the problem and it doesn't. I've also reserved the ME102_AP an IP address of 10.0.0.5 on the WGT624v3 and the WGT624v3 sees ME102_AP when it's up (i.e. for the 5-10 minutes when it's up after rebooting). Thanks for any help!! Your router and access point aren't using the same channel are they?

Hi ImpetusEra,
The router and the access point are using different channels (6 & 10). I've also tried different combinations, e.g., 1 & 6, 4 & 9, etc. all of which haven't worked 8^(. Bill |

Just a quick update ... I gave up on the ME102. I purchased a WGT624 that was on sale (a sale that made it toooo good to pass up!) and am using it as my access point. It works without a hitch. The configuration is: DSL modem -> WGT624v3 -> Netgear DS 108 hub -> WGT624v3 configured as my access point -> Netgear MA 401 802.11b Wireless PC Card running on a Compaq laptop with XP Home Edition SSID config: SSID for the WGT624v3 that's connected to the DSL modem is "PEACH"; channel 6; auto 108Mbps; dhcp enabled; ip range 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.50 SSID for the WGT624v3 that's the access point is "Peach_AP"; channel 6; auto 108Mbps; dhcp disabled; ip address set to 10.0.0.100 I also purchased an Airport Super G wireless card and it works flawlessly with both WGT624v3s at 108Mbps! Operationally, I simply choose the WGT624v3 that's closest to me and I'm in business! |

Sorry, I meant an Airlink (not Airport) Super G wireless card.
