Default WGR614v7 Wireless Router 54Mbps Configeration

Ok I am not that computer literate, so please bear with me.

I am trying to configure my WGR614v7 Wireless Router 54Mbps on my computer, in order to hook my laptop up to it at a later stage in a wireless mode.

When I connect my ethernet from the back of my computer to the router from the original modem, my modem has the following lights - Power, DSL and Internet. Then when I connect another ethernet from the computer to the router, the router shows the power light, internet light and LAN 4 light. But it appears the wireless keeps flashing which I don't believe it should be.

I go through all of the configeration procedures and it stalls on Activate Network, I have sat here for 10-15mins and it just won't go any further.

When exiting, I then go to my internet, whereby there is none. So the installation/configeration has not worked.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

n.b: I did get further then this function last night and the wireless light was not on but I had done something else wrong, hence the reason i have started this process again this morning.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sheree

wireless light will blink all the time.

you will need to setup your wireless with wired to the router first. also you need to setup /check internet with wired to make sure it working correctly then setup your wireless.. SSID (unique name) and encryption

I am so sorry but this makes no sense to me. I told you I am a bit slow.

I have changed back all of the ethernet cables to normal Pre: installation and my internet is working, it is only when I connect it all back up again, my internet will not work and it stalls on that part of the installation process (as previously mentioned)

"It Stalls".. are you referring to when you running "netgear smart wizard"?

you need to detail what broadband what is going on in that area

Yes it is stalling on the installation wizard for the netgear router.

I am with Telstra broadband and rang them this morning and I am definitely connected, which I have proved by going back to pre-installation mode.

It stalls on Activate Network in the wizard. After sitting here for 10-15mins I close out of the wizard and go to internet and I have no connection until I go back to pre-installation mode Ie: take out router.

just make sure you need to setup with WIRED ONLY first before you can use wireless.. wireless configuration is last thing you do with it by login (manual for that)
