Lose internet connection when phone rings

PLEASE HELP ME, I'M SO FRUSTRATED!
I've got a Speedstream modem, and a WGR614 .v9. Ever since installation buy the Geek Squad at Best Buy I've had this problem. Every time the phone rings, I lose internet connection. I've called the phone service and they say call NETGEAR. I've called NETGEAR and they say call my phone service provider. The problem does not occur whenever I've got the laptop connected directly into the modem.

Why do I lose DSL wireless internet connection while the phone is in use?

Is the microfilter in place? Or perhaps the microfilter is faulty?

We had the same problem here with a Sky supplied 834GT. I cured the problem by ditching the filters supplied with the unit and using spares I had kicking around. I know of other people who have had the same issue with Netgear routers and suspect it is the filters they supply

that what happens with GeekSquad.. no brain for tech to take money...

you have DSL filter issue. you will need DSL filter on ALL phone and offcourse DSL filter on DSL modem.

you will see DSL filter with telphone icon and modem icon.. plug accordingly.

also if you have base station close by the router.... then that is also a issue.

same 2.4ghz is issue. you can change channel for the wireless setting in the router (read manual http://kbserver.netgear.com/downloads_support.asp)
but best to have 2.4Ghz base station AWAY from router
