I have a WNR 834B router set up for a wireless connection and I want to connect to this wireless network with a LG laptop using Windows XP SP2.
This has a standard 802.11b/g wireless adapter installed and when I go to choose a wireless network under the NetWork Connenctions option I get: "No wireless networks were found in range. Make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on." I have disabled and re-enabled the connection but this does not help. I have compared my router settings with the settings under Wireless Networks on the LG laptop and made sure they match. Please refer to the screenshots below: ![]() Wireless network settings ![]() Router settings I have another laptop that being a Sony VAIO on Windows Vista with a wireless adapter and has no problems connecting to the network. Please advise. Thanks |

You're looking at configuration - which is not going to do you much good - IF - the wireless card is not receiving the signal. I know of only one scenario where configuration will make a difference when the system says "No wireless networks found in range", and that is when the SSID broadcast on the network has been disabled, which you haven't mentioned. You say you disabled & re-enabled the wireless connection - where did you do this? If it was through the wireless connection in Windows Control Panel, you could be completely off base - most laptops with internal wireless have one or more hardware controls, some have switches, others have "hot keys", my Dell has no less than FOUR different ways including the Windows device manager. You know your wireless router is OK - although that "up to 270 mbps" setting could prevent a connection, it shouldn't prevent the laptop from detecting the presence of the network. |

B & G mode on wireless mode.
useless to use draft-n mode on G wireless and usually wireless mode cause issue sometime on certain wireless adapter. on B &G mode it also may not support WPA, just WEP but you will find out when you change it to B & G mode
