Hi, is it possible for EVA-8000 to find and use those NDAS-devices in my network?
Thanks for reply |

If my understanding of an NDAS is correct it requires drivers to be installed on those devices which wish to be able to connect to it. Therefore the EVA will not be able to connect directly. However, I would imagine that the EVA can view content on an NDAS when connected via a computer. ie. a computer would need to be running on the network to enable the EVA to see the NDAS.

Thank Ian, that was what I imagined, but therefore the PC has to be running all the time. I think, I will invest for a small pc running as server with own harddrives and the NDAS-devices be "seen" through him. I think I mixed up NDAS with NAS.

If you mean a NAS drive (with SAMBA), this will be supported by your EVA. You have to integrate your NAS into your network, and open the shares for access with EVA (either read for all or with a defined user for the EVA).
This configuration works with no problem. BR G

In addition, if you use a NAS drive in your network, no PC has to be switched on and DEW is not necessary !! EVA can work direct with your NAS.

Hi Smart,
its no NAS-device, its a NDAS external harddisk wich needs software/drivers installed on your pc to be used from there as Ian posted before. It even has no IP in my network, so you can not directly adress it from another pc without drivers running. Wolfgang |

Hi Wolfgang ,
sorry for any inconvenience. As you wrote you mixed up NDAS and NAS i was not sure if Ians way of explaining is correct for your problem. If it is an external drice with neednes of driver installation ec. i am fully with Ian. No good way to use it without a PC running. BR G
