Unhappy telephone interference

I am new at this wireless stuff. I bought a HP laptop and a Netgear Rangemax Next router WNR834Bv2 to go with my existing desktop, running off DSL with a Speed Stream modem. I run the setup CD and was connected fairly quick. My problem is when someone calls on the telephone, I lose my wireless connection. My wired desktop stays connected. Any help would be appreciated.

It would appear that you have a 2.4 GHz cordless phone - either move the base further from the router, replace the phone with a 5GHz model, or replace the router with a 5GHz model.

That very well could be the problem. The cordless phone is 2.4 GHZ and I have no problem with the lined phone. Thanks much for the help. I will get a different phone, not 2.4 GHZ, and hopefully that will solve the problem.
