Default Internet working through modem but not wirelessly

Hello,

I have a WGT624 v2 router. It was originally set up at my old apaprtment. I have since moved and gotten a new Cable Connection through Timer Warner. Tonight I tried setting up my wireless router throuhg this modem, and it did not work. More specifically, the router does connect wirelessly to the computer. However it does not connect to the internet.
When I tried to trouble shoot it, I came up with the following:

1) I connected the computer directly to the Modem. That connected me to the internet.

2) I connected the computer to the wireless router, and then connected the router to the modem. That connected me to the internet.

3) I connected my wireless card to another wireless network. That connected me to the internet.

4) I connected a computer through the router and used another computer to try and connect wireless. The computer directly connected to the router worked with the internet, but the wireless connection did not work.

I have hit a brick wall and am very frustrated. Can you please let me know in terms that a computer novice can understand, what my options are. I have read some responses to similar issues in the past and they were not very clear.

Is it possible that you have connected the modem to a router LAN port instead of the WAN port? The effect of this is that only one computer would have Internet access.

sounds like modem and router is connected fine. just wireless is not working

I would login router and check SSID (unique), no access list , open encryption for test, channel usage 1-6+11

see "wireless tips" on my sig below and do some troubleshoot

I'm not seeing proof that wireless is actually connecting.
Chapper, please perform an IP config, while "connected" wirelessly. (and wired so we can compare)
Code:
start > run > cmd
ipconfig /all
Please post the response, so we can help further.

When you are connected to the router via the wireless connection - open a command prompt and do an ipconfig - post the results here.

The probability is that your wireless security seetings are misconfigured - try it with no security, if it works without security then that is where you need to focus.

Wasn't that my question in the first place?

Also, I want to know if you can access other network resources while wireless.
For example, (assuming the ipconfig come back good) can you ping your router?
can you ping other computers (wired)?
Do you see other computers in "network neighborhood"?
can you ping other wireless computers?
do you see other wireless computers?

I would ping external site try ping 4.2.2.2

you may try using manual DNS on PC side with this

4.2.2.1/4.2.2.2

http://vpncasestudy.com/download/usefuldoc/dns_tips.pdf

I have seen DNS related issue on router.
