I have one wg602v3 plugged into a router, and another one, far away, I am getting internet from through wireless.
Both are currently in repeater mode, as I was told this is the only way to do what I want to do. Is there any way I can turn on WPA on both of them and continue to have them connect to one another? If so, how? |

Hi,
please can you tell me which firmware are you running? With Firmware 1.2.2 it should be possible to enable WPA/WPA2 in WDS-mode. You can also use on both access-points the WDS-mode Point-to-Point with Client association. In Repeater mode you only have half duplex. regards Herbert |

See the release notes for firmware version 1.2.2 of the WG602v3.

yes, but there's another post on here saying despite what release notes say, it does not work for them.
i currently have both as "repeater" mode and they have the mac id of the other AP. I called netgear and was told that my current setup router->AP1->AP2->wireless clients would not work with bridge mode, that AP2 in this configuration only would allow the wired connection. if this is not true, what do i change? do i tell both to be in single bridged mode and tell it the mac id of the other? |

Hi,
I'm talking about my WG302v1. In the release notes for your AP it's described the same way as for WG302. AP1 act as point to point bridge. You have to insert the MAC of AP2. If you have mac control enabled you have to add AP2's MAC also in allowed clients. AP2 act as point to point bridge with client association. You ahve to add the MAC of AP1. The same for MAC control. Insert AP1's MAC. Also all clients has to be added within MAC control. If you use AP2 as AP-Client, it only accepts wired connections. regards Herbert |

Ok, I am confused, so if i have two wg602v3's and i want to do what i described, do i have to use repeater mode, and as such, does that mean no wpa?

You can use both! Repeater and Brige, and in both scenarios WPA should work.

You should be able to use either bridging or repeating. I tried it and couldn't get WDS to work with WPA either. I reported the issue to Netgear engineering. I will let everyone know when I get any reply.
