Unhappy Re: HDMI Issues - Post HERE

hi there

i don't know if this is a software or hardware issue but recently the hdmi output on my eva8000 just went dead -and it seems that the corresponding hdmi input on my tv has also been killed! its like there was a surge through my hdmi cable or something (don't know if thats possible? )

i've tried different hdmi cables but to no avail. anyone got any thoughts??

Well it's always possible there was a power surge that damaged the HDMI ports, but unlikely to have effected both the TV an the EVA. Have you tried the EVA on a different TV to be sure it isn't the TV HMDI has gone bad? Or tested a different HDMI device with the TV on multiple HDMI ports?

Just for the record:
Using the 8000 with LG 50PQ3000 via HDMI the picture of a video is displayed only sometimes. This has been fixed on the EVA9000 by disabling audio mute on the hdmi. This problem is still present in the 8000 firmware and cannot be switched off there.

My Tv has 2 hdmi inputs - the one which the eva8000 was plugged into has gone dead but the second one works fine as my DVD player is plugged into it. i've tried the eva8000 with that hdmi but no input is detected. I've also tried other sources with the broken hdmi on my tv but there is nothing detected. if there has been a power surge it seems strange tho that nothing else has been affected.

I'm using component at the moment which is ok i suppose so i might have to cut my loses and live with the world of analogue signal

thanks for the help!

I got a strange behaviour with the HDMI port - no sound at all (video, audio, youtube) with whatever file I choose (the test sound during the installation is working).

I have 2 possible solutions for this (both very unsatisfactory)

- switch between several modi (1080p /1080i / 768) and most of the time sound is then available for 2 or 3 files -then same procedure again...
- unplug and re-plug the hdmi cable when tv and eva are switched on

So, apparently the problem is not the coding or the files, but the HDMI signal (I tried different cables and different ports). Has anyone else this problem, or anyone a suggestion regarding this? I haven't bought a HDMI player to use a scart cable...

My PHILIPS 47" High Def LCDTV has ALWAYS had problems with my EVA8000 on any of the 3 HDMI ports. Any time I stop or go to a menu during or after playback the screen would go black and then result in a "UNRECOGNIZED FORMAT" message from the tv. My workaround for this was to press the back button on the remote if the screen was black for more than 1 second. This would usually display something before being locked out with the unrecognized format. When I was locked up with no way out I'd use a Remote controlled device to disconnect power to unit and then reconnect.

I NOW have the EVA9000 as well. This apparently is STILL a problem with this unit and my tv as well! Although here the problem is easily resolved by switching back and forth between the tv's HDMI inputs. This brings the EVA screen appear again. I have many other devices using the hdmi ports and i've NEVER had an issue with ANY of them and this television before. Is anyone aware of these issues and will they ever have any other solution???

Have you tried disabling hdmi-mute in the "advanced settings/other" on the 9000?
Hope this helps

Since I own an old TV; a Grundig Montreal 26 LW 68-7410 TOP that has no HDMI (but DVI-I & audio cinch L+R & PC-in) I was with both my EVA8000 and Eva9100running component video , and audio what worked fine, but didn't give me e really great image, I tried running a HDMI cable to DVI-I with audio cables on the side, (trying both to audio in & PC), but there is no sound?? Is audio through stereo jacks disabled when using HDMI?
any body a solution?
