so I update my wgr614 v8 to the lastest firmware(as of 1/19/09). It downloaded and installed it fine, however went off line and never came back. Now when i plug my speed stream router into the netgear, the speed stream says theres no ethernet connection(no green light). I have switched cables and devices and it isnt my speed stream because the light turned on with other devices. A buddie of mine says that the netgear firmware could have "flashed" while wirelessly updating. Is this possible? will netgear cover the expenses?

Did you update the firmware wirelessly? That's a real good way to brick it alright.
I'm not sure if NETGEAR will RMA it, but worth it to ask. Also try a hard reset.
