Lightbulb Workaround for Windows Vista/2K8 10022/10048 DEW errors

Give these commands a try on your Vista/2K8 machines:

netsh int ipv4 set dynamicport tcp start=49160 num=16375
netsh int ipv4 set dynamicport udp start=49160 num=16375
netsh int ipv6 set dynamicport tcp start=49160 num=16375
netsh int ipv6 set dynamicport udp start=49160 num=16375

Microsoft has increased the dynamic client port range for outgoing connections in Windows Vista and in Windows Server 2008. The new default start port is 49152, which is one of the ports that the DEW software uses.

Alternatively, I attached a batch file that executes the above commands. The forum doesn't allow attaching files with .bat extension, so just rename the file after you download.

a batch file is just a quick way of running multiple commands.

Simply double clicking on the .bat file will run the list of commands.

After running the batch file, you need to restart Windows. There is no need to reinstall DEW.

Works fine, but you need to run the file as an administrator. Download it, change the file extention from txt to bat. Then right click the file and select "Run as administrator".

Had the same problem and was INCREDIBLY frustrated!! Started off being intermittent, but finally both of my eva8000 were unusable because DEW would not start and gave the error 10022 every time on start up.

Spent a couple hours on the phone with tech support that was NO help at all!

Flashed the 8000's with the latest firmware and still say no improvement.

The solution was to set the iTunes Bonjour service to manual. I don't need that service anyway and everything works like a champ!!!!!!

Hope this helps others avoid the frustration I went thru.

DEW is only required if your media is DRM protected. Older iTunes or other purchased media providers.
