Sorry, Its been a long time since I fired up ny EVA8000 - I've moved on to the 9150 and NTV550 (and store the media on my NAS, not a PC).

One thing to try is to set up a guest account on the vista machine, and make sure it has full permissions to access the shares (and the files in them). That solved access issues with my vista system.
