Hello, I've got a NETGEAR wireless router WGR614v9 which drops me from my Internet connection too often sometimes. After I made a few changes to the settings of the router and the result stayed the same I thought that the problem may be solved if I upload a new software to it. I had downloaded the latest version of the NETGEAR WGR614 v9, however when I try to upload it I get an "Invalid filename was provided, please enter again" window on screen.
I will appreciate any attempt of everyone who wants to help me

Just be sure that you have the correct firmware and update via an ethernet connection -- using wireless will brick the router.

I'm sure I have got the corect firmware because I had downloaded It from the Netgear's site. I have tried to update the router via LAN cable as well. It looks like the firmware don't match with my router...

Hi there,
I am trying to assist a friend who has a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop and netgear router that has been updated to version 9 (WGT624). The wireless network in his home was working fine, including the laptop. Now the laptop can see the network, recognizes excellent strength but continues to be stuck at "Acquiring Network Address". Toshiba and HP laptops connect to the network right away without issue. They are using WPA-SK encryption and the SSID and Passwords grant access no problem. The only issues are any time a Dell Laptop (their son has one that won't connect either) tries to connect it gets stuck. I rebooted everything, router, DSL Modem, etc. Verified no settings had been changed on their router set up since it had been functioning. Does anyone know of this issue? Is there a specific alteration to the router setting that I should try for them? Thank you, Marge |
