Default WRG614_v6: clock, time zone, date all wrong

I am unable to set up schedules and I figured out that the clock, time zone, and date are all wrong. It states this:

Current Time: Wednesday, 01 Jan 2003 00:28:48

Even though (in New Hampshire USA) it is Tuesday June 23, 2009 at 9:05am.

I'm only allowed to select my time zone, which I have done correctly. But why does it show the router as being six years off, and not even the correct time?

The router has failed to pick up time from the NTP server, try just power cycling the router, then look at the router log to see what is happening.

Thanks for responding, but (so far) that hasn't worked. Is there any manual way for me to 'force' it to find this magical NTP server? Otherwise, the router is working fine. I just can't set any blocking/access schedules, which is what prompted me to discover this problem today. The router is just fixated on January 1, 2003 for some reason (and many hours off, as well).

Did the log show any attempt to contact the server? It would normally show you the IP address of the NTP server and using that you can use an online checker to test the health of the server.

I see a log full of all sorts of places I visited (sample below):

As you can see, the router thinks it is January 2003!

When I Google 'NTP Server' there are plenty of places I can go to, but then what? It's almost like looking across a river and realizing there's no bridge!

I was after the log just after the router has been powered on, otherwise the messages relating to the NTP server get lost.

Practically all Netgear routers are hard coded to use one NTP server, and the user has no option to select another. If the server is down or unreachable for some reason then the router clock is wrong, throwing all schedules out with it. Not the best design in the world.

This issue comes up two or three times per year and can last for several days.

I did a bit of digging and I think that your router uses the 12.7.210.177 NTP server and this site http://www.gpsclock.com/check.html says its down.

You guys are great...thanks for digging & suggesting & informing. I'll give it a few days and see if this 12.7.210.177 server 'comes back' again. It is curious that there isn't a short list of a few such servers that the router 'checks with' in case something like this occurs.

Home end has fixed NTP server, not like prosafe router which you can specify your own.

Now you could make backup of your setting *.cfg file and open with notepad. find the NTP server and change to desire one and restore.

I would personally wait for few days. Usually comes back up

Maybe Netgear are bit sensitive about the use of NTP servers after this;

A few allow the NTP server to be changed, but not this one.

That was tried here; http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?p=130841 The router rejected the edited .cfg file.
