WG111v2 on Windows 98 will not install

The title sums it up. I recently purchased two refurbished WG111v2 adapters which work perfectly on my home-brewed XP SP2 system. However, I can't get the adapters to install on my Compaq Presario 5004CL with a clean install of 98SE.

I've installed all four versions of the utility and drivers. After the reboot, when I plug in the WG111v2, the system will not install the driver, stating that no driver is found for this hardware, even if I point the system to the proper .inf file.

So anyone know what's up with the downloadable 98 drivers?
