Default wireless doesn't work anymore

My wireless connection has been working just fine on my laptop, but it suddenly doesn't connect anymore. I hadn't changed anything on my computer that would cause this. The wireless icon in the tray has an error message saying "limited or no connectivity". I tried setting up my wireless connection again, but it still doesn't work.
I use windows xp home service pack 3 and a wgr614v8 router.

Try setting a different channel in the router, especially if you can detect neighbouring wifis -- in which case a select a channel 5 stops from the strongest.

Also relocate cordless phone base or video sender away from computer or router.

My channel setting is currently set to auto, and under router status, it says "auto(6)". Sorry what do you mean by "stops from the strongest"?

Also does changing channels affect the security level of my router?

I looked through the common problems on that page but I made sure many times I got all of them correct, but the wireless still doesn't work. If no settings changed on my computer and I don't have anything to interfere with it in my house, how could it suddenly stop working after it was working just fine for a long time?

Power supply of the laptop?

This laptop is pretty new so the internal wireless can still go bad?

Did you check that there is no conflict between windows and your laptop program which takes care of wifi?
Can you provide more info about your network settings, your laptop...Etc

Changing channels has no bearing on security. By 5 stops I mean if (for example) nearby wifi is on channel 6, try channel 1 or channel 11.

Take it off Auto, because that merely selects a channel the router thinks is okay.
