If you want it to be secure, use WPA with 25+ character random password including numbers letters and symbols (save it in a file on a flash drive or someplace and you can copy and paste it). Make sure you use a unique SSID (network name) as well as using a common one will weaken your security.

Tell us which type of router (model name) you bought and what wireless clients (Laptops, PCs, PDAs, etc.) you're going to use with this router.....

I am trying to set up a wireless router in my dorm room. The only thing I am having a problem with is securing it. I have gone to www.routerlogin.net, www.routerlogin.com, http:192.168.1.1, http://192.168.0.1 and it was not able to open the page. I googled it... and saw that some people had a similar problem, but couldn't find a solution. I own a mac book and netgear wireless-G router. Let me know if you can help

Don't use Safari for opening the router menu.
Use either Firefox or Microsoft Internet Explorer for Mac.
It has something to do with Java compatibilities....
