Never mind Mum and Dad, I've not been able to back up in 124 days. It really is a complete pile of junk that thankfully, some 'power user geeks' have made in their own time, usable - just. |

it would be nice if you could run both of the hd's as seperate standard volumes instead of jbod or raid like you can do on the dlink dns-320 which i also own (imho is much better)

Heres my suggestions to improve:
1 make recovery mode easier to do, none of this wait precisley 15 seconds and hold reset for exactly 30 seconds bs. this is a cheap trick to get us to call support. I have no idea if my stora wont go into recovery because it is faulty or because of this nonsense procedure. Give us jig on usb stick you plug in and turn on and it sets recovery mode 2 "premium services" should be free - even if its just whilst on the same network. If I want to have a quick butchers on the stora at home why cant i do it on my iphone instead of having to fire up a pc? this is all |

i like the idea to be able to run the 2 hdd's seperatly. this would make changing hdd's (upgrading to larger drives) much less hassle. as time goes on things do fill up pretty quick but to be able to install a bigger hdd and transfer everything to that drive would be great. for me more usb's n moving the power button is kinda useless as my stora is in the loft now. havent seen it in weeks. but then again why would i need too. its kinda working apart from a small network issue but i resolved that by using it on a seperate ip range from my home network.

I'd like the ability to provide read-only access to files via a network drive. I dont really use the web interface much and use a mapped drive to access the files on the Stora. I'd like to give my girlfriend access on her laptop but paranoid she will accidentally delete or move files. She can use the web interface but having a protected, readonly method of browsing the network drive would be great. When editing user accounts on the Stora a little read-only option would be good.

One thing specially that needs imrovement. Desktop Mirror skips certain files with an error message on the log: "skipping overly long name".
As the name is allowed in Windows should also the Stora unit be able to store it. If the Linux firmware in Stora can not store the long name as it is, there are ways round, like creating a shorter alias, and putting the real name in a separate reference file. After all, also Winsows does so, as it stores both the long name and a shorter DOS-name for every file. |

I would like it to be reliable and do what it is supposed to do, not waste my time and patience trying to access data after firmware or software upgrades!!!!!
