=== ProSafe FIRMWARE Upgrade Procedure ===

Whenever upgrading your firmware from 3.0.4-19* (or lower) to 3.0.5-24** (or higher) you need to factory default the unit and manually reprogram it. (UPDATED BELOW)

DO NOT RELOAD a saved config backup file.

Suggested Procedure:

1. Take notes or print out current settings.
2. Backup current config (in case you want to roll back to previous firmware).
3. Download the desired replacement firmware.
4. Factory Default the unit.
5. Upload the replacement firmware.
6. Factory Default the unit.
7. Manually Reprogram the router settings (DO NOT RELOAD the saved config).
8. Backup (save/label the backup file in detail) the router settings for future use.


Failure to do so may cause various router performance/reliability issues to arise from differences between the two firmware levels and how the configuration is stored within.

* 3.0.4-19 down to (including all released firmwares in between) 2.0.0 on the originating end.

**3.0.5-24 and above on the upgrade end.

TAKE NOTE that the same procedure applies to FIRMWARE DOWNGRADES.

This applies to all routers that use the firmwares listed above including the 538, 5308, all 338's, 318G, 3205, and the 336G. This also needs to be done with new, fresh out of the box units.

Do the same between any firmware upgrade below 3.0.7-24* to and above it.

* 3.0.7-23 down to (including all released firmwares in between) 2.0.0 on the originating end.

**3.0.7-24 and above on the upgrade end.
