Default Blinking WiFi Light and No Connection

I have a WNR854T router and about once a week I lose my WiFi connection and the blue WiFi light on the router blinks continuously. If I unplug the power supply and plug it back in I regain WiFi connectivity. This started happening about three or four months ago.

BTW I am running the original firmware (1.4.23NA) and do not upgrade as the last Netgear router I had, locked up during the upgrade and was rendered useless.

Did you find a solution to your problem? I am having the same problem.
I am using a electr. clock that shuts down the power for 1 hour, that seems to help a bit.

I have done several hard resets and the problem still persists. I have no idea why the power supply would have any effect but I have another NetGear router so will try that power supply.

Well that will not work as the power supply I have has a 1.0 amp output and the router with the problem has a 1.5 amp output. Still don not know why the power supply would cause the problem.

wifi uses more power so if you have lack of power or power supply is flaky, it may cause the issues

Did you find a solution now?

Mine went back to the store because of the 2 year warranty.
They did not need the powersupply.

I hooked up another power supply but the problem still exists. It's actually getting worse. The router has been in the same location as have all my cordless phones for the last 5 years. I have no idea why this is happening now. The wifi signal does not get dropped while my laptop is connected but as soon as I close the cover it seems to get dropped and the blue light steadily flashes.
