Default Can not access Netflix through Samsung DVD player

My WPN824v3 is conected directly to my cable modem without going through a computer. My wireless network works fine on all my PCs. I plugged my Samsung LCD TV and Samsung DVD player directly into my router with CAT5. When I go the "Set-up" screen on the DVD player and run the "Test Network", it comes back "your network is working properly". However when I attempt to connect to Netflix, Blockbuster or any of the other functions, it hangs up and does not connect. Could my Netgear WPN824v3 be blocking access to Netflix?

The Widgets on my TV seem to work fine as well.

When I access my router thru IE I cofirm I have got no "Block Services" set, ...

Provided the Samsung DVD player has a menu option to set static IP, then assign it an unique IP address not used by any other devices in your network and preferably, outside the range of the DHCP server in your router (lower the upper range from 254 to f.i. 99).
Then set the DMZ in the router to this IP address, e.q. 192.168.1.99.
If you still cannot connect to Netflix, it might very well be that the WPN824v3 is blocking.

I've read here some time ago about a similar problem with a LG Blue Ray player behind a WNR834Bv2.
Only after the user swapped the Netgear router for a Siemens SIP VoIP router, could he connect and see streaming movies from the Internet.

It seems the Netgear firewall is too restrict. This is very good for ordinary use, but not so good for streaming from the Internet
