I've been running a guest network on the 2.4 radio since I bought thhis router. It works just as well with .55 as it has with any firmware.

I can confirm this condition on a brand new router running V1.0.4.55NA firmware.
Disabling the Guest WiFi network allows the primary WiFi network to operate. I did not check to see if the inverse was true, nor did I check to see if both WiFi networks were operational on the stock firmware. This situation is acceptable for now, but I am hopeful for a resolution in the near future. |

I have this unit too but dont have the same problem. it could be possible that it is like a bad batch of routers as this has just came out of nowhere. also a reason why tech support would be surprised to hear this when you call. to help NETGEAR with this issue, i would suggest you post the serial numbers of your router if you have this issue.
of course please make sure they are already registered under your name before posting them ![]() Register here before posting the serial number on the forum: https://my.netgear.com/registration/login.aspx |

I also can confirm this problem. I just got my WNDR3700 from Amazon and all was well until I set up the guest network which was a big selling point for me. Radios get turned off and when I manually turn them back on using the button on the front of the router I can't connect. I am running the latest firmware V1.0.4.55NA. This is very dissapointing since I am coming from Linksys and never had an issue with them.

I setup another one of these routers today for a different client.
I verified that the guest WiFi network knocks out the regular WiFi network on the stock V1.0.4.49NA firmware as well. Something is very wrong here. |

once again, please be reminded that not everyone is having this issue (especially those who have had it for a long time) so most probably this could be a batch that were manufactured on a specific date. This post has just been raised this March and only a number of users are reporting it that is why NETGEAR may still be unaware.
NETGEAR could still be investigating this issue and I am sure that with your help this will be addressed accordingly. please post your serial numbers here together with the store where you purchased them from so we could contribute in collating the said issue. It is very obvious that this issue is mostly experienced by users who had just purchased the unit so it could just be a bad batch. Have a great day everyone!

As Netgear don't monitor this forum, it would make more sense to raise a support ticket with them at mynetgear.com. They will collate the occurances, I'm sure, at that way the serial number of the routers isn't posted in a pblic forum.
Cheers.

You may contact NETGEAR support for them to verify other needed details (serial numbers, store name where the device purchased, et.al.). This could be an isolated case for some users and this is worth investigating.

Oops. Yeah, it is http://my.netgear.com to create a "new online technical submission request", where you can submit all the details of the problem, and it will be automatically linked to the serial number of your registered product.
I forgot the "." in there. Then plain old Netgear Support has the Knowledgebase, FAQ and stuff, but is not linked to your specific unit. Post editing would be so handy. Perhaps I should just proofread my posts a bit better before posting.

I'm definitely not having this problem. 1.0.4.55NA
b/g/n ssid is coyote_den WPA/WPA2 a/n ssid is coyote_den_a WPA2 guest b/g/n is coyote_den_public. Tried Open,WEP,and WPA modes. Everything works. WLANs do go down after enabling guest network, but they come back up within a minute. (Takes longer when enabling guest than when disabling..) My a/b/g/n laptop can connect to all of the networks. |
