Default Problem with Netgear GSM7224R

Hello,

My name is Jose from Spain, and i have begun in the phorum this morning.
I wish you can help me and i wish i can help us we i know something, but i am begginer with this kind of equipment.

I am working with a Switch (Netgear GSM7224R) to develop a communications network and i have a problem.

In the network we have a Laser detection device with MAC address 00:00:00:00:00:00 and sends its data (UDP) to a broadcast address 192.168.3.255The switch drops all the packets. We tried to send data to the same broadcast address from a PC (with legal MAC address) and then switch forwarded the packets. So we suspect that MAC address causes a problem.

Can you please suggest us what can be done? Is it possible to configure the switch somehow to enable the communication?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards

Hola,

Saludos.

Default Netgear GSM7224R--MAC address

Jose,
I don't accept that the switch is the problem.
Is it handling normal internet traffic.?
Do other switches, even un-managed work?

I am not happy about an all zero MAC address.
The first 6 digits are the manufacturer's stamp, and the 2nd 6
are "burnt in" and unique to the device itself.
The switch has to learn the MAC address of the connected
devices, and add to its MAC address table.
In my view the Laser has an incomplete MAC address.
