Do I have a "good" version? Or....I mean, come on NETGEAR! Oy!

Thanks for the help, everyone -

Ben
At this point of time, you shouldn't have to worry about revisions from top vendors like Amazon/Newegg... you have a newer revision so no need to worry.

02r04 AND 02r06 are both REV 1 routers. they are though the 2 newest revisions of the v1. those are 100% NOT v2's. if you wanted a v1 the 02r06 is a great router as is the 04. both work very well.

Ok.
So - what's the difference(s) between v1 and v2?
Why would NETGEAR release these in such a ludicrously confusing manner? I mean, I've never seen this sorta thing before.

Is there a nice, brief pros/cons list to having a v1 or v2/revision?

Why was there even a need to release a v2 in the first place, instead of revising v1?

Thank you for helping this noob out I do appreciate it!

Ben

right now the only v2 that is out is the revision 01r04 in the red/grey boxes.

see smallnetbuilder and look up the review for the 3700v2 it will explain everything you need to know. imo 2.4 is SLIGHTLY better overall in the v2 but 5g is weaker due to the lacking antenna that the v1 has over the v2..

btw was at staples today and they had 7 v2's on the shelf..

also since i cant edit you said instead of revising v1... thats what the v2 is... netgear always does this when they make a major revision.

Thank you for that - I checked out SmallNetBuilder - but I have that box pictured! In the review of v2, you'll see the pic there.

Yet, the number of the bottom of my router box is clearly:
100 13934 02R6
(which I read here was a v1?)

I don't understand

Help please?

same box. the v2 has the same box EXCEPT on the right side panel where it says package contents it lists the 3700v2, and as of right now the only rev i have seen (out of maybe 60 or so) had been the 01r04. otherwise the box remains the same.

If that is true, then I have the 3700 I guess
no v2 anywhere -

Does this mean I fail?

In keeping with the topic and out of curiosity, do you know which PCB revision the V2's have? If I was to guess, I'd say five.
