Question Strange Java Plug-In Error

Recently I have been recieving an Error warning when Desktop Mirror is automatically loaded on PC startup/boot, or when I manually start it.

The message is:

"Error
The new Java Plug in requires a recent version of the Firefox Browser (Firefox 3) or later."

The error is only a warning, and does not appear to affect any functionality with Desktop Mirror (that I have noted). But its regular appearance is annoying.

The problem occurs on a PC I have running XP and on a Windows 7 home premium. I have a Vista notebook as well which I haven't checked yet.

I have verified that my Firefox/Mozella browser version is upto date. It is V 3.6.8
I have verified my Java Plug in is up to date - v 6.0.210.7

I have reinstalled Firefox and the Java plugin. No effect.
The problem appeared after I did the hardware update on my Stora, but that may just be a coincidence. Stora is functioning normally.

Logic dictates that as the message occurs when Desktop Mirror starts, it is verifying that it has the latest firefox verson, and even though it has, it is failing the test. I am curious if anyone else who has a STORA and uses Firefox as a browser has encounterd this problem? Also any suggestions on removing the problem.

Thank you.

Angry Re: Strange Java Plug-In Error

Yes I have had the same problem here for a few weeks now. I had been trying to search the web to find some idea as to what is was that causes the problem
Out of curiosity what firewall product do you use, there are other reasons as to why this hang might occur. I have Comodo on my windows machines.
Only one PC has desktop mirror running and it has the problem, others don't. Also my Mac Book doesn't have a problem.

If someone can advise as to how we might get close to finding the problem, I would be interested in ideas

I have the same exact issue. I am using Win 7 and Firefox. This issue does not seem to occur with Internet Explorer. But I do not use Explorer, so I would like to get rid of this error.

try this:
Run Notepad.exe as administrator
Open C:\Program Files\NETGEAR\Stora Desktop Applications\DesktopMirror\greprefs\all.js

Find the line:
pref("plugin.scan.plid.all", true);
and change it to:
pref("plugin.scan.plid.all", false);

Save the file.

You should not get the error anymore.

I've done what you say and it's solved the problem

How on earth did you know that?

Many thanks
