Which product is right for me?
In my home wireless network, I have a wireless network functioning. In a remote corner with excellent signal strength, I want to receive the signal and be able to plug in 3-4 devices. My choke point is a vonage phone adapter, which requires a cabled signal, therefore I need to receive the wireless network signal and convert it to a cabled extension of the lan. I already have a spare switch, so that is at my disposal if needed. Do I need a WAP or a bridge device, or does one function as either or is it all the same? I'm confused. Does it matter what brand the wireless network router is? I was using a netgear router, but the cable company just "upgraded" us to their own wireless router, and I'm not sure what brand it is or what configuration options I have. Any guidance is appreciated. |
