Hi,
I just bought this Netgear WG111V3., tried connecting to my wireless LAN via Vista installed Desktop. I have 128bit WEP enabled in the WLAN router, as i have many other WLAN devices connected. However i could not get my desktop on wirless using this Netgear Adapter. Eventhoug signal strength is 100% & it accepts my WEP key, the IP address never gets assigned. It goes to 169.X.X.X IP address & i tried even disabling windows firewall. Is there any solution for this? Please help, i have spent $22 on this now. Thanks in advance. |

Make sure you are using Key1 -NOT Passphrase and the Wireless Access Control is disabled.

I am having the same problem. The wireless adaptor shows that it is connected to my private wireless network, but will not connect to the internet as it cannot acquire the ip address. Anyone know how to fix this? I have no problems with my laptop connecting to this network. It is only on the desktop where I installed the wireless usb adaptor.

Hey,
Having the same EXACT problem at our home. We've got a laptop that connects just fine to our router so we know it works, and our desktop works half the time too. We're connecting via a WG111v3 external wireless adaptor and our security is WEP 64 bit and all the settings are right. I know this if for no other reason then simply because we can connect sometimes. Our connection will die 15 minutes in and it just won't come back. The error we usually get is that it is unable to acquire an IP address. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! |
