I don't know if this can cause issues but it works well. I have set up the N and G with the same name and the same password.

Let's be specific here - what are we talking about - wireless-n could be referring to a 2.4GHz network or a 5GHz network.

Using the same SSID for both 2.4 & 5 GHz networks has only one disadvantage, and that is assuming that you have a dual band wireless client - you have no control over which network you connect to - and - for what it's worth, I don't see a point to running both 2.4 & 5 GHz networks simultaneously.

you can use same SSID since either of the band will only work with the right band....

if you tell the wireless utility use on either of the band and with same ssid or not it will only pick up it's band anyway

personally, I like to use different SSID so that easier to identify the which band it is.

now 5Ghz is less range than 2.4Ghz so I would always to use 2.4Ghz if environment will allow reliable connection

I have done this and it's great. My devices all connect to the network via the band that provides the best throughput for its location.
