Default turning a router into a switch

I have two wireless routers that I'm using in series one hard wired to the other. I would like to turn the end one into a wireless switch or access point. can I reconfigure one of these to do this.
I have Netgear WGT 624 v2 plugged into my cable modem and a Netgear N-150 WNR 1000 wired to the 624. Each router is on opposite ends of the house. I would like to turn the N-150 into the switch.

I am also interested in turning a second wireless router into an additional AP or range expander and/or repeater.

You can do that with a custom firmware such as ddwrt
