Exclamation TagSuite Announcements

Information on TagSuite has gotten so scattered through various threads, I thought I'd better start one for announcements of new releases, bug fixes, etc.

First, check the Downloads section of the TagSuite Home Page for release information. The Home Page URL is also in my signature.

The current version is 1.3.8 and the Release Notes describe what is new, and what has been fixed in this and earlier releases. Binary executables are available for the following operating systems:
  • MS Windows (XP, Vista, W7; x86 only)
  • OSX (i386 and PPC)
  • Linux (Fedora, Ubuntu, Suse, etc; x86 only)
New
The Linux binary download was built following the success in building a version for OSX using the ActiveState Perl Development Kit (PDK). I've tested this under Fedora and Ubuntu, but according to ActiveState, it should run under all common x86 Linux distros (x86-64 and win64 are available too, but I'm not bothering right now). I suggest Linux users copy the four binaries (tag*) to /usr/local/bin (you may need su privilege for this) and just replace them as new versions come out. This obviates the need to cd to the TagSuite "src" directory before running a program.

All platform-specific downloads contain full source, but there is still a source-only download for the adventurous. I hope to be completely reorganizing the source in the next few weeks to make it CPAN compatible.

It's not just the information on Tagsuite that's getting scattered, it's the same with the "thank you"s.

This looks like a suitable thread to post my Thank you

Default Re: TagSuite Announcements: 1.3.9 released

TagSuite 1.3.9 is now available for download from TagSuite Home.
This release adds several new capabilities which are detailed in the Release Notes. Briefly, they are:
  1. A new Editor option, "File|New|New from file...", simplifies TAG creation for media not in IMDB/TVDB such as home movies.
  2. Images imported into a TAG using the editor are scaled a maximum EVA resolution using a better algorithm than EVA uses.
  3. A new harvester option will normalize titles for better sorting by moving "A" and "The" to the end of the title.
  4. Tagging of VIDEO_TS rips is now fully supported for batch or single titles.
  5. Batch or individual translation of XML data from XMBC/YAMJ ".nfo" files to TAG files is now supported (see README caveat).
  6. The bug that caused the Error count to act as an accumulator instead of a counter has been fixed.

Juste testing on a 50 movies directory containing .Nfo files , and it works fine .Tg don't containt movie poster , but as i have folder.jpg(movie poster) all works fine and fast on my NeoTV 550.

One more thing as in tagsuite there is no problems with accentuation , on neotv display all accentuation are faulty

Great it worked for you. Re the character decorations, are you saying that the 550 display is not showing them? If so, what do you see (a screenshot would be fine). I take great care handling uft8 encoding and know that the TagSuite editor and my 9150 display them correctly. Sorry I don't have a 550 to test against.

Can you zip up a couple of your nfo files and send them to ron(at)modelenginenews.org?

The problem with extended chars in directory names is more difficult. What are your files stored on (NAS or PC) and what is the operating system?

Default Re: TagSuite Announcements

Having problems with v1.3.9 on Windows XP SP3.

TagEdit.exe worked the first time I used it. The second time it did not display the images for the TAG files it created. The third and subsequent attempts to use it all it did was "flash" the screen - no splash screen, just a brief flicker of the screen.

Tried launching from DOS Command Window - same problem.

TagSuite.exe does the same thing, just a quick "flash". The only one that opens properly is TagMaker.exe
