Information on TagSuite has gotten so scattered through various threads, I thought I'd better start one for announcements of new releases, bug fixes, etc.
First, check the Downloads section of the TagSuite Home Page for release information. The Home Page URL is also in my signature. The current version is 1.3.8 and the Release Notes describe what is new, and what has been fixed in this and earlier releases. Binary executables are available for the following operating systems:
The Linux binary download was built following the success in building a version for OSX using the ActiveState Perl Development Kit (PDK). I've tested this under Fedora and Ubuntu, but according to ActiveState, it should run under all common x86 Linux distros (x86-64 and win64 are available too, but I'm not bothering right now). I suggest Linux users copy the four binaries (tag*) to /usr/local/bin (you may need su privilege for this) and just replace them as new versions come out. This obviates the need to cd to the TagSuite "src" directory before running a program. All platform-specific downloads contain full source, but there is still a source-only download for the adventurous. I hope to be completely reorganizing the source in the next few weeks to make it CPAN compatible.

It's not just the information on Tagsuite that's getting scattered, it's the same with the "thank you"s.
This looks like a suitable thread to post my Thank you

The problem with extended chars in directory names is more difficult. What are your files stored on (NAS or PC) and what is the operating system?

Having problems with v1.3.9 on Windows XP SP3.
TagEdit.exe worked the first time I used it. The second time it did not display the images for the TAG files it created. The third and subsequent attempts to use it all it did was "flash" the screen - no splash screen, just a brief flicker of the screen. Tried launching from DOS Command Window - same problem. TagSuite.exe does the same thing, just a quick "flash". The only one that opens properly is TagMaker.exe |
