Glad to see you are continuing to improve the software. One suggestion I have... There are a few shows that TS doesn't seem to be able to recognize. I understand matching can be difficult sometimes. Take for example $#*! My Dad Says. Whenever I want to tag this show, I have to manually type in the TBdb ID of 164951. What if you could have a TVdb ID lookup file that is could somehow read and pull the TVdb ID from automatically when it can't seem to find a match?
Something to think about. I have no idea how you could actually pull it off.

Re the Dad business, I was confused because when you first mentioned this, I made it one of the 500-odd system tests which are run and must give a 100% pass each time just before turning the handle on new release. So a bit confused, I checked the test and see it's wrapped in an "if not win32" test, so it is not run on windows because the "*" is an illegal file name char under NTFS (it runs and passes on Linux and OS-X). But entering the explicit name "$#*! My Dad Says" as actual title works for me under windows, so you don't need the ID (though it's easier to type ) As I see it, if created under windows, the file name can't have a "*" in it, so no match on the parsed file name will be possible. You could rename them to include the splat by ssh'ing to the NAS and doing it under Linux, but that would not help TagSuite under windows as they'd then look something like "$M5EUQ~8.AVI" which is even worse! I'll keep this in the back of my mind, but I don't think there will be a windows solution for this one -- but keep those suggestions and bugs rolling in!

I think the issue is that I use MCM and uTorrent to pull the files down. After MCM is done processing the file, it is nicely named something like "$#-! My Dad Says - S01E03 - The Truth About Dads & Moms.avi" So when TS tries to find it with that name, it doesn't work.
It is not a huge deal as I keep a notepad text file on my desktop and just open it and copy/paste the TVdb ID and then TS works just great. It would probably be hard to parse the file name and then match it to a entry in a text file. But it would be nice if I could right click paste into the "Actual Title" field. Ctrl-V works but not right clicking.

wonderful piece of software we have here ! thank you ron7 for bringing to us such a handy tool.
one problem I have : european french spoken user, I like to tag my tv shows using french informations when they are available on TVDB. problem : it seems that there's a problem with encoding. one example : Braquo (french tv show) tvdb id 118451. if I choose the batch mode and set TagSuite to "fr" in batch mode, the show is perfectly recognized, and TAG are created. if I load the resulting TAGs inside TagSuite, they appear correctly. if I load them with other tools (evatagfr, french version of evatag) or if I browse my show on the NTV550, I have strange characters, like UTF-8 and ANSI are messing up something. what I see on the NTV550 and in other softwares : Code:
Code:

But by all means email me the TAG file--address in the Help|About--so I can test it against a 9150 and an 8000 where I believe the file will display correctly, proving that they can do it when they put their minds to it, the 550 being the exception at the current builds. If I'm right, I'll post screen shots proof here (again!) in the hope that they do something about it this time. If I'm wrong, I'll humbly apologise and fix the problem (I don't think I'm wrong--I've been around this loop too many times )

thank you for the answer. I just sent you an email with a problematic TAG file attached. I hope you're not right (meaning it's a problem with TagSuite) and not Netgear related. it will be faster to fix I guess. I already posted many times on the NTV550 section about the different encoding problems I encounter...
many thanks for your time

maybe I've found something else : when tagging one particular season from a show (still the same, the french one named "Braquo"), all my files are named tvshow.SxxExx.episodetitle.avi. I used the french name (original language of the show) from TVDB, with the special french characters like è é à. problem is : I want the NFO I already have for my PCH C-200 to be converted to TAG to use with my NTV550, but it seems TagSuite can't handle files with those specials characters in their filename. I have some others shows (for example Tripping the Rift, Les Décalés du Cosmos in french), and problem is the same : NFO files are just ignored...

I tried tagtool2 against a dummy file "Les Décalés du Cosmos.nfo" (the content was actually the nfo site doco example for mythbusters, but that does not matter really). The content was translated accurately to a file called "Les Décalés du Cosmos.TAG", so you should ge what you want--unless you are using a Neo-550 which (STILL!!!) can't display on non Latin-1 chars correctly. Sorry that's about the best I can do, so if you can live with running the commandline version, you can convert your French named NFO files ok, you just can't use the GUI version for this. The "engine" is identical in both cases--the problem is purely with the GUI components I have to use. I've tested and verified this under Windows, Linux, and OS-X. . I'll update the "Known Bugs" in the Readme--not that I expect anyone to read it ![]() Ron

TagSuite 1.4.8 is now available for download from the TagSuite Home Page
This release is a small one, but contains a couple of features people have asked for:
In addition, Muzicman61 has provided the magic command line sequence to add and association between TagSuite and the file extension ".TAG" via the Windows registry so that double-clicking a TAG file will launch TagSuite (or TagEdit, your choice) and automatically load the TAG file in question. You will need to create a "TagSuite" folder in "Program Files" and copy the .exe files there for this to work. The details are in the TAGSUITE_README.txt file which is now being translated into DOS format so it can be easily opened and read with Notepad from the unpacked Windows zip.
