Default WNA3100 (N-300) Adapter - awful connection problems

Yesterday I bought a WNA3100 (aka N-300) USB wireless adapter. I also have a WNR2000 (aka N-300) wireless router.

Backstory: At first, I thought the router was messed up, because I couldn't detect the wireless network on either my computer with the adapter, or with my wife's laptop's wireless card. I called tech support and changed a setting or two on the router, and now my wife's laptop is working perfectly.

So here's the symptom: When I plug the adapter into the USB port, one of two things will happen.

(A) The adapter will fail to see any networks. No amount of rescanning has any effect.
(B) The adapter will see my wireless network and connect to it, but then the connection will disappear after a few seconds. Again, no amount of rescanning has any effect.

I've tried all of the following so far: uninstalling and reinstalling the adapter (twice), looking for new drivers and software versions (I have the current ones), hooking up to the router with an Ethernet cord and checking all of the wireless settings (everything seems to be on and correct), moving my adapter around to try to get past any interference (no help), rebooting my computer (nope), rebooting the router (nope).

When I have reinstalled the adapter from scratch, it always seems to do (B) the first time. It will see my network and then lose it right away.

I'm pretty confident the problem is with the adapter rather than the router, because my wife's laptop is connected wirelessly with no problems. Also, the router works fine for Ethernet, which is how I'm posting this.

Same issue here but running win 7 64 bit, get the BSOD and USB device not recognized, or just with the yellow exclamation on it. Unplug it a few times, works for 30 sec the quits, just bought this last week. Taking it back to the store today if I can't get ahold of support.

Good to know I'm not alone, at least. On my adapter, most of the time the blue light blinks. Sometimes it goes off for longer periods of time.
