I am using NETGEAR 54 Mbps Wireless-G USB 2.0 Adapter WG111v3 Version 2.0.0 on an XP desktop in order to use a Verison MiFi 2200 Hotspot. If I use The Verizon software or Windows Wireless Network Connection, I can click "Disconnect" when I am finished on the Internet. If I configure to use the NETGEAR Smart Wizard I do not see an option to quickly disconnect. If I exit the Wizard, I am still connected to the net. So I'm looking for a way to disconnect without having to unplug my Adapter. I do not want to leave an open connection that my teenage daughter can use without my knowledge.

While using the NETGEAR Smart Wizard, try to go to the Networks tab, and do you see Disconnect button?

I would suggest to install software to control the PC such as cyber patrol http://www.cyberpatrol.com/ http://www.cyberpatrol.com/cpparentalcontrols.asp Quote:

msnancy, there is no disconnect under the Network Tab. The only things that can be done is Join a Network, Connect, Scan and Close.
When I booted up today, the Smart Wizard automatically connected so it looks like I just need to reconfigure back to using the Verizon software or Windows Wireless Network Connection. Both of them allow me complete control but unfortunately lack the details provided by the Smart Wizard. Anyway, thank you both for responding. |
