Well i been having internet problems lately and i have been calling my isp provider out here every week and they say they see some problems sometimes and sometimes they dont and by the time they get out here its nothing they can do because everything is ok.
Well tonight i was having crazy inconsistent connection on and off all night disconnecting from multiple vents my games lagging or logging me off. I then disconnecting my router and have yet to have an interruption. Has anyone had this problem? is their a way to fix it? or is my router bad? or is it all of the netgear 3700 routers. I have comcast as a provider, and i am on windows 7 64 bit. I recently changed to this router about a month ago. |

Make sure you're running the latest firmware.
A WNDR3700 v1 purchased 1 month ago would like be running 1.0.6.98 firmware. A v2 would be running 1.0.0.6. Both of those firmware revisions have known issues with disconnects. |

Log into your router. Under the "Maintenance" section, go to the "Router Status" page. That will tell you which router you own.
Ah, the 64,000 dollar question. ![]() Well, that all depends on who you talk to. Some say that you should just upload it to your router and wait and see if you have issues. While others, including myself, say that a little procedure prevention goes a long way. If you haven't already, take notes of all the configuration changes you made to the router. I prefer using a text file for this as it allows me to copy and paste back to the router my settings in a matter of minutes. I don't like mixing saved configuration files from different firmware versions. I recommend downloading the firmware file and uploading it to your router from the hard drive, it safer. I also recommend that you use only the LAN for updating, again it's safer. Here's my current procedure:
Sure it's a little more work, but you are less likely to have issues later.

I would recommend erasing the settings and re-configuring it again. People in the forums have had wonky stuff happen that clears up after setting to the defaults. we sumize that the configurations are not getting upgraded properly during an upgrade.
