WGR614v10 Can't Connect Windows Vista PC Wirelessly

Hello All,

I recently installed a Netgear wireless router, and all my XP computers can use it with no problem, but my Vista laptop cannot. It says it's connected and has good signal strength, but the internet won't pull up and it says limited connectivity. BTW, wired connection works perfectly.

The SSID and password are correct. So is the security type. I quadruple checked. The only thing I can think of is that the XP computers connect using TCP/IP and the Vista computer connects using TCP/IP v4 and v6.

I'm at the end of my rope. I bought the router over 90 days ago, so no tech support. Can anyone help me. I don't want my laptop to be hardwired to the router. Thanks!

try to disable TCP/IPv6. then restart your laptop.

Thanks for the help Reckl3ss, however that didn't work. When I restarted, it just said the connection had limited connectivity. However, when I did the repair feature again, just for kicks; I got a message saying that there was no connection to the device. HOWEVER, I have good signal strength and it says I'm connected. Very confusing, especially since the laptop connected easily with my form Linksys router.

I am having the same problem. my laptop crashed and I had to install a copy of Vista I had laying around. It worked fine with xp but not with Vista. I am almost at the end with this. I have searched everywhere for an answer, but can't find one that works. Have tried releasing and renewing ip. tried disabling v4, and v6 and still nothing. Even tried restoring router to factory setting without security and I still can't get online. Just shows that I am connected with local access only. Please help.
