Hello!
After 3 minutes of online play I get disconnected from "Battlefield: Bad Company 2" (PC). Reinstalling/updating/other fixes won't work. Every other game I play works and this problem is beacuse of EA's bad programming. After reading this forum post by developer DICE I think I understand what causes these problems (EA forum). I get no keep alive from the EA servers and the connection is terminated. I was wondering if I can somehow change the time before the ports close manually, or if there's any other method of fixing this since EA hasn't adressed this long existing problem? PS. I'm not too good with networks so please explain so that a mere gamer understands

the latest firmware fixed the issue on v1 routers, i am not sure about v2, if you have a v2 contact netgear support.

I have forwarded ports 80, 18390, 18395, 13505, 18395, 10000 as suggested by EA's help page (Here). The ones portforward.com suggests seem to be for PS3.
I have the WNDR3700 and firmware 1.0.4.68. I tried manually upgrading to 1.0.7.98 but after a while the updater says "failure". The auto-updater doesn't work

I would recommend downloading and updating the firmware manually. if you have any issues I recommend following the 15 step plan out of this thread.
http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t=62791 while it is more tedious it will ensure you don't have any quirks later on. Joseph |

all you have to do is update the firmware with the link above and use the factory reset option in the setup pages. thats it, bc2 will then work.
do not forward ports with the latest firmware it is not needed and leaves your pc open to attack. |

I've updated the firmware, I've done a factory reset (but imported the previous settings from backup) and it made no difference. Where do I go from now?

do a factory reset and DO NOT import settings from an older firmware.
