Default feature request

i have all my media in one share on my nas. when I ran through setup it found my shares and i selected the share with my media. in that share i have 3 folders. photo, music and videos. in my videos folder i have 3 folders called home videos, movies and television, the movies folder has a folder for each movie which in turn has the movie file itself, the movie tag file, backdrop.jpg, fanart.jpg, etc... the problem i have with this is when i browse my pictures all the backdrop, and fanart pictures are show.. which i really dont want to show up when browsing my pictures.. I know there is an option to not show pictures less than a certain size, however there are some pictures i have that have been emailed to me that are pretty small that i would like available... and so when i set that option the smaller emailed pictures dont show.

my suggestion is to have an option that i can select a certain folder within my share for certain media.. so i can select a certain folder for pictures, a certain folder for movies a certain folder for home video, television episodes, etc.. it would make browsing a whole lot easier.. kind of how twonky media does it.. and xbmc (where i can set content for certain directories..)
unless there is already a way to do this and im not aware of it?

thanks

Michael

The Neo won't acknowledge multi level SMB shares but it does allow this with NFS. Your best bet is to break out your share into 3 seperate shares.. Movies, Music, Photos.

Can you configure your NAS to add additional SMB shares directly to the folder by modifying the Samba/smb configuration file?

Sorry I am not familiar with qnap ts509 pro or any NAS devices. I personally built my own media server using unRAID. Since unRAID is Linux based, SMB shares are configured by .conf files. I was just suggesting if your NAS device is Linux based, then you may be able to create SMB shares link to specific directories.

The NeoTV can be configured to scan for certain media files for each SMB shares.

I think you're mistaken here ... Neo interface allows for the specification of shares, but not for shares for music, shares for pics, shares for movies ...

Yes, if you highlight a share and press INFO on the remote, you can then specify the media types you want catalogued on that share. So for you movies share, if you specify video only, the fanart will not get catalogued as photos.
