Default Xbox Live NAT problems

Hello everyone,

I have an Xbox360 obviously with Xbox Live and I use a Netgear WPN824v2 Router. When I run Network tests on the Xbox, it says that my NAT is strict. I don't want that because due to it's settings, I can't connect to some of my friends thus, not being able to play with them. I havne't installed the recent Firmware updates..(I run 1.00something) when the current one is 2.00something. Could this help with the NAT? Just a possiblilty. If anyone knows how to remove NAT or at least change the settings, please reply. I am greateful. Thanks for your time.

I just answer someone had WGR614V4 which was not listed under Xbox compatiblity list. I would sugggest look xbox site and see if supports. this is same kinda issue with other one I just answered...
http://kbserver.netgear.com/inquira/...77#__highlight

this does say support WPN824V1 so... not sure
Xbox page does not say V1 or V2 bu based on firmwar version more likely V1

hi. i have the wpn824v2 and play on xbox live as well. you need to log in to your router and adjust some settings that will open your NAT. once you are logged in to your router's setup page, scroll down to WAN settings. there you will see an option to open NAT. on that same page you'll also see a setting to disable your spi firewall. you don't have to turn this off but i notice that this helps for extremely sensitive games like cod3. good luck!

i've been calling my cable company for 3 weeks trying to figure out the cituation... it started when i upgraded from a regular one port modem to a netgear cg814wg router modem... anyhow someone finally helped me... and i fixed it for my boyfriends xbox and my brothers so i know it works...

you have to go your web browser and clear it and type in the following numbers:

192.168.0.1

click go and a user name and password box comes up. username is: superuser password is: password

click ok.
on the left side menu theres a link called services click it.

uncheck the firewall features and click apply

next go to the link on the left side menu called UPnP click it.

check the box called turn UPnP on

and then change the 2 numbers in the boxes to 99 and 99. and then click apply.
