Hello, I have a Netgear N 150, WNR1000v2. We are only using it for the Wii right now, other than that all we have is the desktop pc. We've had a wireless router for 3 months and I've not needed to login to alter my settings before today and my son was wanting to use a WiFi feature on one of his Nintendo DS Lite games. It wouldn't connect something about security settings... so I went to log in to see if I could tweak anything to allow him access. I have my Wireless Name & Passphrase written down on the instruction booklet that came with the router... but it wouldn't accept it. It gives me the log in box and says:
The server www.routerlogin.net at NETGEAR WNR1000v2 requires a username and password. Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection). Then below that it has the usual place where you type in your info. So in my instruction booklet it says if you forget your info just type in admin & password... so I do that and it works. Which is crazy since anybody could type that in couldn't they? What's the point of having a password if it's that easy... well I'm glad that it worked in spite of that. So I go in to Wireless Settings and see that the name and passphrase I was trying were exactly as I set them up when I first installed the darn thing. I tried to log out and log back in and still the same message as above. If I keep trying too many times I get a 401 Unauthorized page. So I resort back to admin & password. I tried changing my name & passphrase, made sure I hit "apply". But it still doesn't work. I'm glad that I can get access, but am irritated that it won't accept the security logins I put in and am wondering if something is wrong, is there something I'm doing wrong, some little something that I'm just not getting... or am I at risk security wise... I would think not since my son couldn't get the DS Lite to access the wifi... but anyway... any advise? |

We only have one PC, so that's what I'm using... it's a desktop, not wireless.
