It's been more than a month since the last firmware, it sure seems dead in the water.

Apparently we are wrong about the bugs and the player not being fit for purpose.

You would have thought instead of the sales pitch he would have gone and got JonD from the DEV team to update us all.

They must think we are so ungrateful and impatient for wanting the player to actually work after 6 months let alone actually working as advertised.

Problem is that everytime people speak up about the sorry state of affairs with this player a couple of regulars and a moderator instantly jump to Netgear defence as if the customer is always wrong so you never get anywhere or ever feel like you are being heard.

On other media forums alot of the Europeans are saying that when they change the player from PAL to NTSC regardless of firmware installed that half of their problems disappear.

So the player has never been setup properly to be sold to the world wide market.

It's true that the NTV550 still has issues that need to be addressed, but have you actually taken the time to look at the history list of the changlogs? Most of the fixes/additions that are listed came directly from user feedback (both from the forums and the intial beta testing), so the users are definitely being heard.

Unfortunately I think there is a basic misunderstanding on why these forums were created, and how it relates to the product engineers. These forums were created as a place where users can help each other with questions and issues they may have. It was never intended to be a direct path to the product engineers, and in fact very few of the Netgear engineers spend any time on these forums. So when some people complain about not being kept up to date on what is being fixed, or when the next beta FW is going to be released, that's because the forums where never intended for this. If they can give us this information then that's great, but certainly not an expectation.
