Default No Digital device(s) detected

I'm trying to install my EVA9150...

After executing the basic setup on the EVA9150 a message on the tv asks to instal the Netgear Digital Entertainer software delivered with the EVA9150 on my pc (Windows 7 64-bit)
At the end of the installation, the configuration wizard is executed automatically.

It shows a window telling me "Ready to configue digital entertainer" - If you have a firewall enable... bla bla bla... I read the info and press the "next" key

Then I have to select the media folders that have to be shared... So I did and pressed the "next" key again

Then "Applying shared folder settings", and when this was done, I pressed the "next" button...

Then he showed my Netgear device in the list of found devices (it was the only one)... The checkbox in front of the device was checked, and I pressed "Next" again

Until this point, everyting went well, but after the last "next" I got a window telling me "No Digital device(s) detected" (Strange isn't it ?)

I tried all this again with opening the ports (described in the user manual) -> same result - I enabled the firewall -> same result

Strange thing is that I can ping the EVA9150 or send messages to it using the "Netgear Digital Entertainer" on my pc

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong ?

This goes well until the last step. I always get ''No digital entertainers detected'', however it appeared in the list before (and I can ping to it). I''ve done everything as described in the manual, I also opened the necessary ports in the firewall (I even tried to connect with disabling the firewall), but I always get the same result. I''ve made screenshots concerning my problem, but it seems I can''t send an attachment... I really love to get a quick solution so I can finally install my mediaplayer.

How about trying a different approach? You don't really need the DEW stuff (another item from Netgear that adds little to no value, mostly, unless you want to control the 9150 from the PC), and without it, port sharing/firewall settings are irrelevant.

Instead, just share the folder which contains your media files/folders (no security) and select it on the 9150 as a source (using CIFS with your PC acting as a NAS). If the 9150 can't see the shared drive, that indicates a different sort of problem and we can progress from that angle.

Re "attachments", I guess that being a visual media forum, the owners rightfully decided that storage would get eaten up fast if they allowed image uploads. Instead, you need to place your images somewhere on the Internet that is accessible via a simple URL and use the "Insert Image (as link)" button.

I know this sounds stupid (which is what I thought when I had the same problem with my installation), but when you get to where is sees you EVA and the box is checked, UN-CHECK THE BOX. It makes no sense, is totally backwards but hey, it worked for me.
Hopefully if this helps you that will be the good news. Unfortunately now you're able to experience further problems with the unit and software.

it is absolutely ridiculous that this worked... but TekChic's suggestion was perfect. Uncheck the box = problem solved. Thanks
