Default wnce2001 not connecting to router

Hi,

Possible issue #1
The SSID I'm connecting too is: Réseau d’invités de Doude ...it's my housemate's router (hes french) and I wonder if the hyphened e's and white-space is not supported by the wnce2001. The password is 8 characters long with standard letters and numbers.

Possible issue #2
The encryption being used is WPA2-PSK [AES], maybe this is not supported? I can gain full access to the router when my housemate is around, so above settings can be changed

I have tried to update the wnce2001's firmware but this is not possible. When I load 192.168.1.251 or www.mywifiext.com I come straight into it's connection wizard with no further options. This is irregular because on the manual im supposed to have options and advanced settings, one of which allows firmware upgrades. Looks like you must complete to wizard once to “UNLOCK” the device, which makes me laugh lol. Is it broken? Do I need to take it back to shop?

Any replies or help is much appreciated

cheers

It impossible with special character to cause issues wnce2001 will supports wpa2

You need to setup before anything so fimrware should wait until then
Best to change SSID to more basic letter and not character

thanks jmizoguchi

the ssid was changed to "doude" however this has not worked. Found out some more info about the router too. Its a Netgear dm111p so i have no idea why im having all this trouble.

I dont think there is anything else i can change, the routers setup is very standard, im defeated and will take it back to the shop. If i had another router i would test with that but i dont. oh well.

thanks anyway

ah i see,

its full name is: NETGEAR DM111P ADSL2+ Modem

Ive inspected my housemate's setup more closely. hes using the dm111p as an adsl modem then uses some Apple AIR box to handle the wireless connections. Strange that my notebook is connecting but the wnce2001 is not. Maybe a standard wireless router will work.

anyway, thanks again
