There has to be missing something. All that shows is your logged in and booting. My 3300 does a whole lot more when it boots. My 3300 sets up dhcp authenticates, and checks clock,Router is up . I'd assume if any of them failed you'd get a "failed to authenticate, Host does not exist", ect.
Maybe Netgear's changed how they boot their routers. Make sure all things track-able are in the log (probably minus [dos],[blocked sites],[logged into router]) I'd still make sure your home offices ISP is reading it. They knew when my Netgear router was throwing fits, aka they could see the disconnects on their end. Also make sure your usernames is typed right. username:cafecup@netgear.com instead of Username: cafecup (this is no ones email so don't attempt) All isps are different to a point. go to your parents again and see what pops up. At least you know the modem connects there so "still" it could be on the isp side. |

Thanks for all of your comments guys.
I am changing ISPs on the 15th, so I think I will wait until that is in place and try the new router on their service, hopefully this will work, if not I will check it again on my parents connection to check the log. It'll work eventually, even by process of elimination it is still difficult to determine why this thing isn't working at my house. |

SOLVED IT!!!
I purchased this router today and have spent the evening with the same issue. I spent time on the phone to Virgin and messing around with it myself(as Virgin were no help and just asked if I had a dial tone – at that point I kinda gave up!) Through trial and error I discovered that the issue seems to be in the ADSL Settngs, to be precise the DSL Mode. In ‘Auto’ it wont connect, but as soon as you specify which mode you want, ie ADSL, it connects. The settings for the DGND3700 on Virgin(national rather than cable) are as follows: Multiplexing VC Based VPI 0 VCI 38 DSL Mode ADSL Transfer Mode ATM After a night of working it out, I was too excited to let this little victory be wasted and thought Id share the news for you(prob bit late) and others |
